Raffles Singapore Overview
First Impressions
Walking into Raffles Singapore feels like stepping back into colonial elegance — but the good kind, where everything actually works perfectly. This five-star icon on Beach Road has been hosting travelers since 1887, and honestly, they’ve had plenty of time to get things right. The moment you arrive at this legendary property in the City Hall district, you understand why it’s maintained such a stellar reputation. The white colonial facade and tropical gardens create this immediate sense of calm that’s pretty remarkable considering you’re in the heart of one of Asia’s busiest cities.
Location & Neighborhood
You know what’s brilliant about the location? You’re literally steps from everything that matters in Singapore, but tucked away enough that you feel like you’re in your own little sanctuary. The MRT stations are right there — City Hall and Esplanade are both walkable — which means you can zip anywhere in the city without dealing with traffic. Marina Bay Sands is practically next door, the shopping on Orchard Road is minutes away, and if you want to explore Chinatown or Little India, you’re perfectly positioned. I mean, couples consistently rate this location a 9.8 out of 10, and after spending time here, that makes complete sense.
The Rooms
The suites at Raffles Singapore are genuinely spacious — we’re talking proper living areas, not just a chair squeezed next to the bed. Each one feels more like a luxury apartment than a hotel room, with 14-foot ceilings, hardwood floors, and these beautiful Persian rugs that somehow tie everything together perfectly. The beds are absolutely exceptional (guests consistently rave about the sleep quality), and the marble bathrooms feature those deep soaking tubs that you’ll actually want to use. What I particularly appreciate is how they’ve maintained the colonial charm while ensuring everything — from the air conditioning to the WiFi — works flawlessly.
Dining & Amenities
The breakfast spread here is honestly impressive — they’ve got everything from full English to Asian options, continental selections, and even grab-and-go items if you’re rushing out to explore. The variety means you won’t get bored even if you’re staying for a week. Beyond breakfast, the hotel houses some genuinely excellent restaurants, and the Long Bar (where the Singapore Sling was invented) is worth a visit even if you’re not staying here. There’s also free private parking, which is actually a big deal in Singapore where parking can be both expensive and frustrating to find.
Why Guests Love It
What sets Raffles Singapore apart is this perfect balance of history and modern luxury — you get the romance and elegance of a colonial-era grand hotel without sacrificing any contemporary comforts. The service feels genuinely personal rather than stuffy, and the staff seem to anticipate what you need before you ask. The 9.5 rating reflects what you experience daily: everything simply works beautifully. Whether you’re here for business, romance, or just treating yourself to something special, this place delivers that rare combination of prestige and genuine comfort that makes a trip memorable.
The concierge service in Singapore curates rooftop yacht parties, private hawker feasts, and behind-the-scenes garden tours.

Amazing – thank you! – Simon from Singapore (10/10)
Historic, has been beautifully renovated. Rooms are great, service incredible.
I loved the way you have preserved the historical feel of the building, magic! – Catherine from Singapore (10/10)
Room: Loved the room, and the bath tub. My only reservation is with respect to the bed-side light. I think it would be helpful if it could be operated by a simple manual switch. When one needs to get up to go to the bathroom, it's confusing to have to look for the i-pad, and it causes an interruption to the pattern of drowsiness. Also, please provide milk or creamer. I particularly commend housekeeping on the scrupulous cleanliness, very much appreciated.
Breakfast: Okay, I will be frank – would it be possible to have butter and marmalade made available, without having to ask for them specially. And I suggest that the coffee was too strong, and once again why no milk. It's good to be offered milk when the coffee/tea order is given.
Location: Could not be better. Thank you for the wonderful gardens in the courtyards.WONDERFUL – Emily from Singapore (10/10)
