Peninsula Excelsior Singapore, A Wyndham Hotel Overview

First Impressions

Walking into Peninsula Excelsior Singapore, A Wyndham Hotel feels like stepping into a piece of Singapore’s colonial history — but with all the modern touches you’d expect from a five-star property. The lobby has this grand, old-world charm that immediately tells you this place has stories to tell. I mean, you’re literally standing in the heart of the city’s historic district, and you can feel that heritage in every corner of the building.

Location That Actually Matters

Here’s what I love about Coleman Street — you’re basically at the center of everything that matters in Singapore. The City Hall MRT station is right there, which honestly makes getting around the island ridiculously easy. You can walk to the Singapore River in about five minutes, and Marina Bay is practically next door. What really struck me though is how couples seem to gravitate toward this spot — there’s something romantic about being surrounded by all that colonial architecture and having the Singapore skyline as your backdrop.

The Room Experience

The room I stayed in had these massive windows that frame the city perfectly — you know what I mean when you get that “wow” moment every time you walk back in? The luxury touches are subtle but effective, from the marble bathroom to the way they’ve managed to blend contemporary comfort with classic elegance. The beds are seriously comfortable, and the air conditioning is powerful enough to handle Singapore’s humidity without making you feel like you’re in an icebox.

Dining and Amenities

The restaurant downstairs serves up a solid mix of local and international cuisine, though honestly, with Singapore’s incredible hawker scene just steps away, you might find yourself eating out more than in. What I really appreciated was the spa facilities — after a day of walking around in the tropical heat, having a place to properly unwind makes all the difference. The fitness center is well-equipped too, if you’re the type who can’t skip a workout even on vacation.

Why Guests Love It

Look, there’s private parking available, which in downtown Singapore is basically like finding gold — most hotels in this area don’t offer that luxury. But what really sets this place apart is how it manages to feel both grand and approachable at the same time. You’re staying somewhere with genuine character and history, but you’re not sacrificing modern comfort or convenience. The staff genuinely seems to care about making your stay memorable, and when you’re paying five-star prices, that attention to detail actually matters. Plus, being able to walk to Raffles Hotel, the Merlion, and Marina Bay Sands means you’re saving both time and taxi fare — which in Singapore adds up faster than you’d think.

  • High comfort combined with good location – Agnes from Hungary (9/10)

Perfect location, walking distance to Clark Quay, Raffles City and Fort Canning. Very rich breakfast with wide variety of international cooking (Chinese, Indian, Western European), fresh soup and dumplings everyday, plenty of vegetarian options. Room temperature could be individually set. Breakfast was served in neighboring building because of ongoing reconstruction but it was close and there was no noise or dirt, so no problem at all. Bed was comfortable. They serve free cold drink in the lobby which is lifesaving in the hot, humid weather.

  • We appreciated the quiet and comfort of this excellent location an thoroughly enjoyed the warm pool. – Jenny from Australia (8/10)

Windows on two sides of the room. Spaciousness. Quiet. Comfort. Rooftop pool. Proximity to MRT station.

  • Room was good and spacious – Natalie from Australia (9/10)

loved the extras like toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoos, soap etc as we were missing our luggage as it went ahead to UK instead of Singapore.
