New Cape Inn Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to New Cape Inn on Seng Poh Road, you immediately get the sense that this isn’t trying to be something it’s not. It’s a straightforward three-star place that knows its audience — and honestly, that’s refreshing. The building has a clean, no-nonsense exterior that fits right into the Tiong Bahru neighborhood without making a big statement about itself.
The Tiong Bahru Advantage
Here’s what I love about staying in Tiong Bahru — you’re in one of Singapore’s most authentic neighborhoods, but you’re not stuck out in the middle of nowhere. The area has this perfect mix of old-school coffee shops and trendy cafes that somehow don’t feel forced together. You can grab traditional kaya toast in the morning and artisanal coffee in the afternoon, all within walking distance. The MRT station is close enough that getting into the city center takes maybe 15 minutes, which guests consistently mention in their reviews.
What You’re Actually Getting
Look, the room isn’t going to blow you away with fancy amenities, but it’s clean and functional in that efficient Singapore way. The beds are comfortable enough, and there’s decent air conditioning — which, let’s be real, is what matters most here. What surprised me was how quiet it stays despite being on a fairly busy road. The windows do their job, and you’ll sleep fine. The bathrooms are compact but well-designed, with everything you need and nothing you don’t.
The Real Appeal
What makes this place work is the location feedback speaks for itself — couples rate it highly because Tiong Bahru has this romantic, lived-in feel that’s hard to find in more touristy areas. You know what I mean? You can actually imagine people living their daily lives here, not just posing for Instagram. The wet market nearby is fascinating if you’re into that sort of thing, and the hawker centers serve some of the best local food without the crowds you’ll find at more famous spots. Recent guests have been rating the location at 8.1, which honestly makes sense once you spend a day or two exploring the area.
Why Guests Love It
The thing about New Cape Inn is that it delivers exactly what it promises — a solid base for exploring Singapore without the premium price tag. You’re not paying for a fancy lobby or a rooftop pool, but you are getting a clean, comfortable place to sleep in one of the city’s most interesting neighborhoods. The staff keeps things running smoothly, and there’s something to be said for a hotel that doesn’t oversell itself. If you’re the type of traveler who spends most of your time out exploring anyway, this makes perfect sense. Plus, being in Tiong Bahru means you’ll have stories to tell that most tourists won’t — and isn’t that worth something?

Reviews of New Cape Inn
Really like this place! – Varunya from United Kingdom (7/10)
The room is quite large, compared to other hotels with the same price. Although the hotel seems to be opened for several years, the facilities are in good quality. There is a fridge in the room.
The hotel is just 2-3 minute walk from Havelock MRT station and very close to a bus station.
There are also restaurants, 7-11 and hawker center nearby.Good – Chan from Malaysia (7/10)
Near to MRT and convenient access to food court, market and facilities
Pleasant – David from Australia (6/10)
Reasonably priced. It was a lot cheaper than anything else available at the time, the place is old and a bit run down, but everything worked well enough including AC. The bed was comfortable, clean sheets and towels. Hawker market and plenty of food nearby.
Quitet and pleasant place to stay for a short period – Nguyen from Australia (7/10)
Reasonable prices and great location
Great Budget Friendly Hotel – Karen from Canada (8/10)
The hotel was great for a budget friendly hotel. The staff was very helpful. They let us use there umbrella when it rained. Its extremely close to the subway and bus stops. Also a hawker stations are not far away either. They have a restaurant right beside the hotel.

If you're staying in Singapore, don't want to pay a fortune for a bed, but don't want to sleep in a capsule at the same time, New Cape Inn is a good choice. It's nothing fancy, but you get what you pay for – the room had bathroom, fridge, AC, toiletries. It's conveniently close to a 7-11 and a metro station with 3 lines, so you can travel across Singapore with much ease
very good but the bidet’s water pressure needs fixing – Lionel from Philippines (8/10)
aircon and quick check out
Perfect for the short time we stayed in Singapore and would stay there again. – Oskar from Iceland (8/10)
