The Somerset MRT station is close enough that getting around Singapore becomes effortless. What really struck me is how couples seem to gravitate toward this place — there’s something about the neighborhood that feels romantic without being overly touristy.

The Room Experience

The room I stayed in was surprisingly spacious for Singapore standards — you know how cramped hotel rooms can get here. The decor is clean and modern without trying too hard, and the bed was actually comfortable (I’m picky about mattresses). The air conditioning works like a dream, which honestly matters more than fancy amenities when you’re dealing with Singapore’s humidity. There’s decent storage space, and the bathroom, while compact, has everything you need including a proper shower with good water pressure.

Now this is where the YMCA heritage really shines — the fitness facilities are genuinely impressive. I’m talking about a proper gym, swimming pool, and even squash courts if that’s your thing. The restaurant serves decent international fare, though I’d recommend venturing out for dinner since you’re surrounded by incredible local food options. Breakfast is solid but not spectacular — think continental spread with some local touches. What I appreciated most was having access to all these facilities without feeling like I was paying resort prices.
