D’Hotel Singapore managed by The Ascott Limited Overview
First Impressions
Walking into D’Hotel Singapore managed by The Ascott Limited feels like discovering a well-kept secret in one of Singapore’s most charming neighborhoods. This four-star property sits right in the heart of Tiong Bahru, and honestly, the location couldn’t be better — there’s something special about being in this artsy, heritage district that most tourists completely miss. The lobby has this clean, contemporary vibe that’s distinctly Singaporean without trying too hard, and you immediately get the sense that this place knows exactly what it’s doing.
The Tiong Bahru Experience
You know what I love about staying here? You’re literally surrounded by some of the city’s best local food and vintage shops, but you’re not dealing with the chaos of Orchard Road or Marina Bay. Tiong Bahru is where actual Singaporeans hang out — I mean, you can walk to the wet market in the morning for proper kopi and kaya toast, then spend your afternoon browsing independent bookstores and design boutiques. The MRT station is just a few minutes away, so getting to the main tourist spots is actually pretty effortless, but you get to come home to this peaceful, tree-lined neighborhood that feels worlds apart from the typical hotel districts.
The Room
The room I stayed in was spacious by Singapore standards — and trust me, that’s saying something in a city where space is premium. What impressed me most was the attention to practical details: plenty of power outlets (including USB ports), a work desk that’s actually usable, and a kitchenette that’s surprisingly well-equipped if you want to grab groceries from the nearby market. The bathroom feels modern and clean, with a rainfall shower that’s perfect after walking around the humid city all day. The air conditioning works like a dream, which honestly might be the most important feature in Singapore.
Amenities and Service
The hotel keeps things simple but does everything well — there’s a fitness center that’s compact but has the essentials, and the spa services are a nice touch when you need to unwind. What really stands out is the service style here; it’s professional but not stuffy, and the staff genuinely seem to know the neighborhood well. They’ll point you toward the best local hawker stalls or help you figure out the most efficient way to get around the city. There’s also a restaurant on-site, though honestly, with all the incredible food options within walking distance, I found myself eating out most of the time.
Why Guests Love It
This place works because it strikes that perfect balance between being a proper hotel and feeling connected to real Singapore life. Couples especially seem to appreciate the romantic, village-like atmosphere of Tiong Bahru — it’s easy to see why they rate the location so highly. You’re close enough to everything that matters, but far enough from the tourist crowds to actually relax. The parking situation is manageable if you’re driving, though most guests find the public transport connections more than adequate. It’s the kind of place where you feel like you’re staying in Singapore, not just visiting it.
Hotel in Singapore bookings surge before New Year light shows, so savvy travelers lock in bay-view rooms early.

Great value and welcoming staff – Aparna from France (9/10)
Very well located, within walking distance to the boating area and Tiong Bahru Hawker Centre. The room was more spacious than most I’ve stayed in within this price range in Singapore. The staff were very attentive and super welcoming. The amenities are comfortable but not “à la mode” (the rooms had a slight Bauhaus /modernist vibe—like the switches, and one of the towels had a small hole, not a problem for me). Good WiFi speed if you need to work a bit. Nice lounge area at the entrance. Highly recommend!
